RATCH-Australia (RAC) is at the forefront of the renewable energy sector in Australia. Owning 12 generators totaling almost 1.7 GW, RAC is one of the largest Independent Power Producers in the country. This includes almost 1 GW of wind and solar and nearly 0.7GW of gas generation. The company is entering an exciting phase of growth with several wind, solar, battery and hybrid greenfield developments and upgrades at existing projects targeted for construction commencement in 2024 and beyond.

The Opportunity

RAC has an exciting opportunity to join our Business Development team as Project Development Engineer. Reporting to the Head of Business Development, you will play a key role supporting technical and engineering requirements to grow and progress the company's wind, solar and BESS development pipeline in the NEM and WEM. Each day will be different working across several projects and technologies. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • A detailed understanding of state planning legislation in NSW and QLD as applicable to utility scale renewable energy projects.
  • Ability to run and support large scale procurement processes including for Engineer, Procure, Construct contract, OEM selection etc.
  • Experience with engineering design and site optimisation.
  • Wind and solar resource modelling experience.
  • Highly organised, analytical, demonstrating a can-do attitude, flexibility and adaptability is also highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Basic financial management and numerical analysis skills (ie: spreadsheeting, budget management etc).
  • Experience with stakeholder and community engagement and landowner consultation.
  • Being part of a small team, you will also need to be an independent worker who is motivated to deliver defined outcomes without a high level of supervision.

 

Your Background

  • Renewable energy project engineering and technical experience (3 - 5 years) – in particular managing site design and technical requirements, coordinating applications and obtaining development consents for either solar and/or wind energy projects.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant engineering or related discipline
  • Strong project management skills with significant commercial acumen
  • Understanding of the Project Development environment and the interplay between regulatory requirements, contracts, operations and commercial outcomes

 

About the Team

The Business Development team is responsible for delivery of the RAC development projects and delivering company growth. This means being involved in projects from first finding a site and performing all required development activities to secure financial close. This provides an exciting opportunity to see projects through several parts of their lifecycle and play a significant role in the energy transition.
