The Project Engineer will be tasked with delivering the significant program of Facilities, Infrastructure, Processing, Rail Systems and Technology capital works for the Mine. The first major programme of works, is for the planning, execution, and delivery of the Mines Industrial Area, workshop, warehouse and related office and ablution facilities. This position is crucial for ensuring the effective delivery of projects aimed at enhancing the reliability, efficiency, and safety of maintenance operations. We partner with specialist Contractors to design and construct the works and manages delivery through a project owner’s team led by the Project Manager. You will be based at the Mine working a 10 - 4 roster!
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop project scopes, objectives, and deliverables for Electrical and Instrumentation projects, in alignment with operational needs and strategic goals.
- Conduct engineering analyses, and cost estimates to support project planning and decision-making, ensuring alignment with budgetary and timeline constraints.
- Oversee the design and implementation of Electrical and Instrumentation systems, equipment upgrades, and installations, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits, approvals, and clearances for project execution.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure timely project delivery within budget constraints, while minimising risks and disruptions to ongoing operations.
- Oversee construction activities, conduct regular site inspections, and monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety protocols, and project requirements.
- Oversee the development and implementation of commissioning plans, startup procedures, and performance testing protocols for new or upgraded Electrical and Instrumentation systems, ensuring smooth integration and optimal performance.
- Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance teams during commissioning, startup, and operation of Electrical and Instrumentation systems, ensuring efficient and reliable operation.
- Document project progress, issues, and lessons learned, and prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for management review and decision-making.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in Electrical & Instrumentation engineering to continuously improve project delivery processes and outcomes.
Necessary:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering design and/or construction, with a focus on industrial projects.
- Proven track record of delivery of complex projects from conception to completion, within budget and schedule, while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and components commonly used in mining operations, including crushers, conveyors, pumps, and HVAC systems.
- Proficiency in project management software tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
