Job description

Project Lead & Associate Midwife Unit Manager - Maternity Group Practice (MGP)

Are you a Registered Midwife with extensive clinical knowledge, practical skills, and experience in championing change, demonstrating leadership abilities, and managing projects? Do you have an overarching passion and commitment for improving clinical and maternity care? Come and join Latrobe Regional Health's Women's and Children's Unit!

Latrobe Regional Health is embarking on the expansion of options for low-risk pregnant clients and their families through the introduction of a midwifery continuity of care model - MGP. This model involves providing care across the continuum of pregnancy, labour, and the post-natal period, delivered by a known midwife, with consultation and collaboration of other clinicians as appropriate.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in designing, implementing, and coordinating the day-to-day requirements of the project plan. Your focus will be on ensuring a seamless transition to operationalise the model, optimising patient outcomes, and enhancing satisfaction for low-risk clients. As the model becomes operational, your responsibilities will extend to the assessment, management, support, ongoing evaluation, and reporting of clinical outcomes and relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Additionally, you will be expected to take on a caseload, titrated depending on your Full-Time Equivalent (FTE), and be available for a component of "on-call" duties in your roster.

If you possess prior experience with MGP, along with expertise in project management and the enthusiasm to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate a new model of care, then this role could be your next professional move.

Joining our team at LRH Women’s and Children’s Services presents an exciting opportunity, especially as we are on the brink of moving into our brand-new state-of-the-art ward area. This expansion includes new birthing suites, a maternity assessment unit, and postnatal, neonatal, and paediatric wards in the 3A hospital expansion, set for completion at the end of 2023. As a Level 5 Maternity Service and Level 4 Special Care Nursery, our Thomson unit also serves as a referral service for smaller Gippsland Regional maternity services.

If you are ready for a challenging and rewarding role in advancing maternity care, we invite you to be part of this exciting journey.

For more information about this exciting opportunity, we encourage you to contact Cathryn Heywood on (03) 5173 8*** for a confidential discussion.

  • Fantastic social club activities and diverse and inclusive workplace activities
