The organisation is currently seeking the skills of a SeniorProject Manager to guide project delivery within a major Australian Naval program.
Reporting directly to the senior engineering executive in the country, the Project Manager will play a pivotal role in leading project strategy and coordinating project outcomes from inception to completion. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure successful delivery within scope, schedule, and budget. This role requires a deep understanding of Australian miltiary (ideally maritime) systems and acquisition processes, coupled with patented project and people leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the entire acquisition project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to timelines, budget, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain project plans, risk management strategies, and mitigation plans.
- Lead and motivate project teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and specifications within the defence industry.
- Provide regular project status updates to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Identify and address potential challenges, implementing effective solutions to keep projects on track.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
- Proven, successful experience as a Project Manager within Australian defence industry, with demonstrated background in Defence Acquisition Programs.
- In-depth knowledge of military systems, technologies, and Defence stakeholder engagement
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Exceptional organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desirable.
