Job description

About the role:

The role is in support of Victoria Police Operational Communications in the areas of Public Drunkenness Reform and Quality Review.

The role is in the remit of the Operational Communications Division, State Emergencies and Support Command and is performed at the premises of a key stakeholder, ESTA (Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority) at 107 Overton Road, Williams Landing.

Overseeing a team of 4 Victoria Public Service staff dedicated to providing excellent customer service to the community and to key stakeholders both internal, and external to Victoria Police, you will work in partnership with the Police Shift Manager and/or the Police Communications Liaison Officers to achieve the objectives of the Public Drunkenness Reform Project (PDRP).

You will manage all aspects of assigned projects, particularly PDRP and Quality Review, including active monitoring of progress against objectives and the oversight and provision of periodic reporting.

You will report to the Police Communications Division, Senior Sergeant in charge of both the quality Review Team and PDRP portfolios and perform duties as directed by the Inspector, Police Communications D24.

Using project management methodology, you will ensure that governance, budget, scope, schedule, risks and issues are all addressed.

Keep contemporary knowledge of relevant legislation policies and protocols.

Your duties will include:

  • Prepare high level reports and briefing papers
  • Manage and maintain correspondence, internally and externally
  • Manage relationships and liaison with key partners (Eg: ESTA), including the supervision and monitoring of 4 VPS3 staff allocated to PDRP and QRT
  • Project management
  • Deliver on agreed goals & objectives
  • Conduct briefings to Police Communications Division Management
  • Actively promote divisional and departmental objectives
  • Train and motivate VPS3 staff

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a confident, calm, mature and considerate manner
  • A desire to learn and share learning with others
  • The ability to work unsupervised, and concurrently supervise and mentor others
  • Demonstrated record of ethical behaviour and a high level of customer service
  • Demonstrated administration skills including experience in using the Microsoft Office Suite
  • A flexible and agile attitude to working a variable shift rostering pattern
  • Knowledge and/or understanding of the importance of privacy principles and the ability to show resolve in the face of adversity
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Governments' Public Drunkenness Reform Program
  • Ability to remain confidential and adhere to relevant privacy principles
  • The confidence to make decisions according to legislation, policy and procedure.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full-time, fixed-term position until 30 June 2026 available.
  • This position is located at ESTA, 107 Overton Road, Williams Landing.
  • This position requires shift work as indicated in the Position Description (as attached to the advertisement).
