Powering Australia is looking for talented team members to play pivotal roles in the energy transition. Powering Australia (PA) is a Federally funded Industry Growth Centre to help clean-tech manufacturers succeed by connecting businesses, accelerating commercialisation activity and building workforce capability. 

THE ROLE

To help us deliver our ambitious mandate, we are seeking talented Project Officers to play a key role in driving PA’s objectives and project delivery in our five nodes that we will establish across the country. 

The Project Officer will work in a small team with dual reporting to the Node Leader and Head Office team. The role will help to deliver transformational outcomes for the state, building capabilities for the nation in line with the national agenda set by the Perth based Head Office team.

This is an exciting and challenging position that requires a motivated self-starter who can work at both a strategic and tactical level and would ideally suit someone with 3 to 5 years’ experience in policy, business advisory or in member-based organisations. Experience in indigenous affairs is highly regarded. Roles are currently available in Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide project and operational support to the Node Leader, including monitoring and reporting on project plans, milestones and deliverables, to ensure time, cost and quality indicators are in line with approved project plans.
  • Coordinate and manage reporting of the advisory committees to achieve strategic outcomes.
  • Contribute to the state-focused strategy that aligns with the national objectives of PA.
  • Capture and maintain detailed records of stakeholder interactions for reporting to the Federal Government. 
  • Use data analysis and research skills to identify areas for intervention and maintain the industry database.
  • Work collaboratively with other clean-tech industry associations to develop a supportive policy environment for renewable manufacturing.
  • Monitor and maintain watching brief of key issues of interest to PA stakeholders.
  • Contribute to organisational planning; and maintain close linkages with Head Office and interstate colleagues.
  • Update and collate documentation and records regarding relevant issues, policies and practices to ensure the delivery of projects complies with agreed project management methodology.
  • Undertake basic research and analysis in assigned project areas and contribute to the preparation of project briefs to support informed decision making and planning.
  • Work closely with relevant stakeholders to provide updates regarding project status and implementation issues.
  • Provide a range of secretariat and administrative services, including coordination of committee meetings and preparation of briefs, reports and papers, to support project management delivery.
  • Other duties as directed to support the activities of PA. 

ABOUT YOU

You are a passionate advocate for clean-technology, you understand the opportunity Australia has and can communicate what needs to be done at a system level to achieve meaningful change. You are comfortable working in small, distributed and diverse teams in a generalist, high performance environment.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience undertaking administrative functions, including assisting in the coordination of meetings, forums and event recruitment and logistics.
  • Experience in undertaking basic research and analysis in assigned project areas including preparation of briefs.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with stakeholders in a project environment.
  • To work collaboratively within and across teams managing competing demands and priorities, with the ability to synthesise technical information and can communicate this clearly to different stakeholders.
  • To have experience supporting successful projects and may have experience delivering these projects in the context of climate change, sustainability, environmental engineering, natural resources management, climate change science, finance or economics.
