Overview
Position Description
The role requires an end-to-end perspective; determining and understanding the business need and scope; developing the solution, being cognisant of the supporting business processes; and, understand the need and transition to BAU support. You are an established Applications Engineer, with experience in applications and systems (an advantage for supporting mining operations) and base knowledge of infrastructure/cloud environments, looking for a role with high visibility.
Job Functions
- Develops application software (new program code or enhancements to existing code) of medium to high complexity from detailed technical specifications (Technical).
- Develops database queries and stored procedures of medium complexity to support data analysis and/or technical programming responsibilities (Technical).
- Executes test scripts for system, integration and/or user acceptance testing and documents technical test results (Technical).
- Maintains awareness of current business trends (in consulting services and offerings, packaged solutions, and industry best practices) that are relevant to the company and clients (Business).
- Understands basic information about the structure of client assignments (e.g. project plan/scope, statement of work, pricing strategy) and how individual efforts contribute to timely and profitable delivery for the company (Management).
- Demonstrates professional image and presence; gains confidence of clients, management team and peers (Relationship Management).
- Active contribution to the design, technology and architecture choices and performance optimizations of the system
- Supporting the team in the creation of technical solutions
- Providing estimated timeframe and technical assessment of the tasks
- Working closely with business change and other program teams to fully understand functional requirements and dependencies.
- Discussing technical requirements with the client and Business Analysts, if needed
- Producing unit and integration tests as part of a thoroughly tested and robust development process.
- Develops ideas and communicates status, issues, designs and plans to peers and immediate manager both orally and in writing (Communication).
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three or more years of experience in technical analysis and design, preferably within a consulting environment
- One to two years of relevant experience in a particular technical specialty area included
- Experience working with company, client, and/or equivalent vendor-mandated methodology
- Experience working with software, hardware, data and testing standards
- Experience working with delivery assurance principles and procedures
- Experience working with business, management, and technology concepts
- Experience with mining industry focus areas
