  • This role is based out of our Collingwood, Prahran and Preston campus’. They are close to public transport and provide secure onsite parking.

About the Role:

The Project Officer will manage the Auslan Online Learning systems and programs, including the development and formatting of resources and assessments. This role will have a strong understanding of the Auslan/Second language acquisition environment and challenges to develop innovative online programs to encourage greater participation in the programs.
The Project Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all students and staff can access Moodle and other online systems by providing training sessions and manuals.
The Project Officer will support the delivery of the Auslan evening programs, including on campus; regional; blended; hybrid and Virtual programs.
The Project Officer will maintain the Tutor On-line booking system and coordinate Tutor Drop in Sessions

Duties:

Online learning

  • Develop and maintain the Online Learning and assessment system.
  • In consultation with teacher and Program Leaders, design, develop and implement Online Learning programs utilising contemporary instructional design theories and best practice standards.
  • Create online resources to support all Auslan educational programs including but not limited to self-correcting quizzes and tasks, assignments, and logbooks, for Certificate II to Diploma levels.
  • Develop a digital checklist of assessments for each qualification level for staff and students.

Evening – On Campus, Blended, Hybrid & Virtual Regional programs.

  • Support the teachers and tutors with the technical aspects of the delivery of evening programs including on campus, blended, regional and virtual programs including the use of single and dual delivery systems; Zoom; Moodle; and Kaltura.
  • Be the contact person for students enrolled into an Auslan evening programs.

Classroom Support Tutors

  • Coordinate the delivery of tutor conversation practice and drop-in sessions.
  • Liaise with Core teachers around the content, topics for the drop-in sessions.
  • Manage and monitor the tutor online booking system.

Other duties

  • Evening Fire warden and First aider for Level 4
  • Consult with teaching staff to facilitate practical placements for Auslan students.
Skills and Experience Required: 

Mandatory

  • Fluency in Auslan - e.g. hold a Certificate IV in Auslan or higher qualification or equivalent.
  • A current Police Check
  • A current Working with Children Check Card (Employee)
  • Demonstrated understanding of Auslan culture and the protocols around communication with the deaf community
    Desirable
  • Relevant Degree and relevant experience; or lesser formal qualifications with substantial experience and specialist expertise or broad knowledge in technical and administrative fields
  • Proven high level interpersonal skills to enable effective communication and liaison with internal and external key stakeholders.
