Job description

RACQ is seeking a highly skilled Project Assurance Specialist responsible for creating and maintaining effective second line project assurance models, methods, and procedures. This role provides independent assurance across RACQ's project portfolio and business-led change projects. You will collaborate with first, second, and third-line stakeholders to finalise artefacts, tools, and procedures, ensuring they meet high-quality standards and planned objectives.

In this role, you will be responsible to:

  • Develop and maintain project assurance frameworks, models, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery and compliance.
  • Provide operationally independent advice to senior management.
  • Participate as a second-line representative on project steering committees.
  • Oversee risk and compliance project activities, ensuring correct identification and management of risks.
  • Proactively escalate gaps and issues to senior risk management leaders.
  • Ensure compliance with Project Management Institute PMBOK principles and RACQ Portfolio Delivery framework.
  • Develop and deliver education programs to support the implementation of assurance methods.

About you:

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence; ability to communicate with clarity and influence at all levels.
  • Experience in assuring projects in a financial services context.
  • Significant experience in compliance, risk, or audit management roles.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex information and present findings clearly.
  • Experience in process and management control design.
  • Proven ability to develop compliance systems to automate governance, streamline work, and reduce errors.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Australian regulatory environment and change drivers.
  • Experience in developing frameworks for sustained compliance with Australian prudential regulations.
  • Knowledge of financial and insurance services industry laws, including the Competition and Consumer Act 2010, Australian Consumer Law, Corporations Act 2001, Privacy Act 1988, and others.
  • Experience in administering Australian financial services (AFS) licensee requirements, including product design and distribution obligations.
