About the Role

BHP's Legal function is responsible for providing strategic legal advice to enable the organisation to achieve its commercial objectives and manage legal risk in compliance with applicable laws and consistent with the BHP Charter.

We have an excellent opportunity for a Legal Administrator to join BHP's Strategic Projects Legal team, which provides support to the Payroll Improvement Program. You will report to the Vice President - Strategic Projects Legal. This is a unique opportunity to utilise your skills and experience with a leading global resources company,

This role is based in Brisbane and will provide administrative support to BHP's Strategic Projects Legal Team located across Brisbane, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

In this role you will:

  • Conform with the BHP Charter, Code of Conduct, Our Requirements and relevant statutory obligations;
  • Have an overriding commitment to health and safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development;
  • Establish yourself as a trusted member of the BHP Legal Team by building relationships, solving problems in a timely manner, and navigating BHP's systems to find solutions to sometimes complex requests;
  • Build relationships with our key Panel Firm/s;
  • Manage matters using the Legal Tracker system and SAP;
  • Manage the onboarding of new team members;
  • Support the team with administrative tasks, including diary management, team meetings, room bookings, travel bookings, concur reconciliations and event planning;
  • Support the implementation of BHP Operating System (BOS) and iManage;
  • Support the team with the preparation of Powerpoint Slides and reporting requirements.


Based on your past experience, interests and career goals, there is scope for growth in this role.

About You
  • Ideally, you will have experience supporting a legal or other corporate team, either in a top tier law firm or resources company.
  • You have great communication skills, can demonstrate an ability to work independently, and can prioritise your work to meet the needs of the team.
  • You have above average IT skills, and are always looking to improve your knowledge or upskill to stay ahead of the changing technology requirements of the team.
  • Experience using Legal Tracker, SAP, Powerpoint and iManage will be highly regarded.
