The Property and Strategic Reform Branch is a key enabler for the department and supports the department’s mission by providing staff with a safe, resilient, and productive work environment.
The Branch provides and maintains properties and facilities that are aligned with the department’s supports the department’s preparedness to maintain critical functions because of an emergency or disruption.
The Branch is also responsible for driving long-term strategy and implementing reform initiatives. It plays a crucial role in supporting and guiding lead business areas by providing them with the necessary tools and Strategic focus to successfully deliver on reform objectives.
The opportunityWe are looking to fill multiple vacancies across the branch's Property and Strategic Reform responsibilities, both for ongoing and non-ongoing positions.

Experience in leasing, project management, financial management, business continuity, emergency and crisis management, or the Whole-of-Australian-Government Coordinated Procurement Arrangements for property-related services. Experience in program management frameworks and policies will be an advantage for Strategic Reform opportunities.

What you will doThe Branch is seeking to fill and create a merit pool for a broad range of APS 6 positions, including roles in leasing, crisis and emergency management, project management and Strategic Reform. These roles may see you:
- Provide support in managing whole of life leasing arrangements in accordance with the Department of Finance processes and initiatives.
- Supporting the department to design and implement innovative accommodation fit-out options to support modern ways of working.
- Assist with the implementation of effective administrative processes to ensure the department’s estate and infrastructure is effectively managed and fit for purpose.
- Supporting the department’s emergency management response and business continuity measures.
- Providing support with accommodation and building projects, and associated project management procedures.
- Assist in coordinating the implementation of Strategic Reform within the department – tracking, monitoring and reporting on progress.
- Assist in facilitating stakeholder engagement across business areas implementing reform initiatives.
- Further develop the project management foundations to support programs of work and reforming areas.
As an APS Level 6 and in accordance with the APS work level standards, you will:
- Draft, interpret, implement, and manage policy and procedures based on various Australian Standards and Regulations.
- Provide proactive and responsive, high quality, customer service focused, assurance and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Research and analyse information to inform continuous improvement and innovation within the Branch.
- Develop and support strong collaborative relationships, both within the Branch and outside, to represent, advocate and negotiate for the best outcomes.
- Manage contract and service level agreements with the department’s suppliers and Property Service Provider.
- Proactively monitor tasks within the work area and adjust priorities where required.
- Adhere to relevant legislation and requirements including the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and Commonwealth Property Management Framework.
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.
Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
NotesAs the department has sites across the country some roles may require travel.
A merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette.
The department does currently offer flexible work opportunities for many roles. This vacancy is ACT - Industry House based, although flexible or remote work arrangements may be considered. Please reach out to the contact officer to discuss this further.
