About the Property
The South Burnett Aggregation is a Full blood Wagyu cattle breeding, backgrounding and mixed farming operation located at the foothills of the picturesque Bunya Mountains in the South Burnett region, approximately 30 minutes from Kingaroy. This property covers an extensive area of 3,600 hectares carrying 1,100 breeders. The aggregation also has 276 hectares of irrigation used for fodder production.
About the Role
The Manager’s primary focus is to achieve production and profitability through the management of the day-to-day activities of the property. Responsibilities include:
- Lead, mentor and develop the property team
- Ensure the highest standards of animal husbandry and welfare are upheld
- Ensure individual livestock records are accurate
- Manage budgets and project manage capital works and development program
- Ensure all work practices are implemented in line WH&S and foster a safety culture
- Extensive experience in Wagyu cattle and pasture management
- A good understanding of calving herds with a strong emphasis on fertility
- Sound understanding of carrying capacity, grass budgeting and herd management
- Experience running centre pivot irrigation systems
- Demonstrable track record in property asset maintenance
- Intermediate computer literacy
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
