About the role
This permanent Property Officerposition reports to the Property Team Leader. You will be responsible for actively leading property transactions on behalf of Council along with delivering specialist advice to support property transactions. A few tasks include actively managing tenure requests, overseeing delivery of Councils obligations for leased premises/maintenance, and contributing to the development of new processes to enable the Property Program to become more efficient and effective.
Elements of the role include:
- Contribute to the ongoing strategic review of Council's land assets.
- Lead negotiation and renewal of tenure arrangements on Council-owned land, including for telecommunications facilities.
- Partner with and deliver on property related priorities for other branches within Council.
- Negotiate with stakeholders in a clear and effective manner to encourage their adoption of best practice development standards.
Ideally, you will have:
- Well-developed knowledge and extensive practical experience in property transactions, preferably in a local government context.
- Strong understanding of the legislative framework for property transactions including the Local Government Act 2009 (Qld), Land Titles Act 1994 (Qld) and Land Act 1994 (Qld).
- Proven experience leading and negotiating property transactions, including acquisition of land, easements, and access for infrastructure projects.
- A relevant qualification (law, valuation, or property economics) would be highly regarded.
Mandatory:
- Ability to satisfactorily pass all pre-employment and background checks.
- ‘C’ class drivers’ licence
