About this Exciting Role

This role is an opportunity for an innovative experienced Psychiatric Enrolled Nurse Educator (PENE) to join the Mental Health Education team at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.  The PENE will be responsible for establishing a structured program of development opportunities and competencies for early career Enrolled Nurses to integrate into mental health community settings with clear workload responsibilities and duties. They will support the ongoing development and evaluation of early careers programs along with initiatives to support our existing and expanding workforce.  The educator will work in collaboration with the Education Team Leader and Senior Psychiatric Nurse to support staff across SVMH service, ensuring education programs are developed that promote best practice with a focus on strengths and recovery.

• Support the Mental Health Education team with lectures, tutorials, workshop skills training, or small group discussions in allocated areas of the syllabus for undergraduates.
• Responsible for the development and evaluation of an early careers Enrolled Nurse program within the community setting
• Contribute to development and evaluation of the programs of training for undergraduates, graduates, postgraduates, RPNs & EN’s.
• Contribute to the on-going development of nursing education and practice by having input to internal and external committees and working parties.
• In the clinical work setting, facilitate the effective transfer of early careers staff theoretical learning into practical experience through the provision of clinical education sessions and supervision.    
• Demonstrated ability to provide training and education to clinicians of all levels and disciplines.
• Provision of support for early careers staff and promoting a culture of hope that can be paralleled in their delivery of front line care.

The classification for this position will be PW60 ($99,252 per annum pro rata)

Your Contribution

• Diploma of nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)  
• 5 years’ experience working within inpatient or community setting
• A current driver’s licence
• Completed or working towards a Certificate 4 Training and Assessment or equivalent
• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership of mental health service provision
• Ability to work within tight deadlines, and to establish day to day priorities and scheduling
• Ability to reliably organise, manage and analyse different forms of data using computer software
• Current National History Check, or willing to obtain
