This position is based at the Kath Atkins Wing Older Adults Mental Health Unit, Bundoora. The Unit is a 15 bed acute unit, which provides assessment and treatment for people usually over 65 years of age with mental health issues who reside in the North East metropolitan area of Melbourne.
The Role:
The Activity Worker in the Inpatient Unit will provide individual and group activities to inpatients. These activities will be part of a comprehensive program coordinated by the ward based Occupational Therapist. Activities will assist in the assessment and treatment of patients and will enhance the therapeutic environment of the ward. The activity worker will consider the needs and interests of patients when planning and running activities.
The activity worker will receive supervision from the ward based occupational therapist.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated communication (both written & verbal) and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Demonstrated skill in leisure activities (e.g. craft, art or music skills).
- Able to work independently
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Current driver's license
- Basic computer literacy.
