About You :
- AHPRA Registration
- Professional Liability Insurance
- Must hold a registration as a Provisional Psychologist or Registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) – Psychology Board of Australia
- Demonstrated ability to comply with the profession’s code of ethics and practice in accordance with legislation affecting psychology practice for maintenance of registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
- Current Medicare Registration or eligibility and willingness to obtain registration prior to commencement of the role/when eligible
- A valid Working with Children’s Check
Position Summary :
What we are looking for:
We are searching for a psychologist to join our growing practice. We are looking for someone who embodies our core values, brings their unique personality and flavour to the delivery of evidence-based psychological interventions and values collaboration. Early-career Psychologists are encouraged to apply.
Key Requirements :
- A comprehensive understanding of the health issues impacting individuals with Mental Health concerns, neurodevelopment divergence (ASD/ADHD) and/or ID/Cognitive Impairment
- Enjoys working with children, adolescents and new and seasoned parents
- Demonstrated skill in working as part of a multidisciplinary team with a sound understanding of your role as Psychologist delivering services to young people and their families in this context
- Demonstrated experience/interest in the provision of clinical, evidence-based assessment and interventions with young people and their families that present with mild to moderate mental health conditions or complex presentations related to cognitive impairment/suspected cognitive impairment
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and/or in as a sole professional in this environment
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written skills with particular emphasis on interpersonal communication skills, establishing trust and rapport, maintaining confidentiality and record keeping
Job Responsibility :
- Psychological treatment and counselling via 1:1 sessions and group-based programs
- Conduct diagnostic assessments (ASD, ADHD, Mental Health, Personality Disorders)
- Provide treatment and counselling to clients
- Conduct Risk Assessments and initiate harm minimisation strategies and techniques, including Suicide and Violent risk – provide referrals and treatment if in line with program policies and guidelines
- Communicate with other professionals internal and/or external to ensure transparent program initiatives
- Conduct initial intake assessment and comprehensive assessments to determine programs are tailored to each individual need
- Relate to young people in a manner that is relevant and appropriate for their cognitive level of functioning
- Review program needs regularly to ensure best fit for program
- Write Program reports and Assessment Reports as required
- Deliver Psychoeducational group sessions
- Ensure maintenance of privacy and confidentiality in relation to client information in accordance with organisational policy, cultural protocol and professional ethics and guidelines
- Incorporate a holistic approach to health and well-being that combines health promotion activities according to community and organisational priorities
- Provide education to other non-program staff as required
- Comply with all Professional Development and supervision requirements as per APS guidelines and frameworks
