The role
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Nursing, Communicable Diseases Management Unit, you will:
- Demonstrate an advanced level of decision-making in Public Health
- Take responsibility for effectively coordinating, actioning and managing strategic policies, procedures and guidelines relevant to the prevention and control of communicable disease threats of Public Health significance
- Develop, deliver and evaluate Public Health projects through to completion.
- Review project performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Use a high level of nursing knowledge and skill in the gathering, synthesis, systematic analysis and application of evidence, theory and judgement in planning, implementing and evaluating complex and innovative state-wide Public Health nursing interventions
- Provide expert Public Health nursing advice, in consultation with the Assistant Director of Nursing and Director of Nursing Communicable Diseases Management Unit and Communicable Diseases Branch Senior
- Medical Officers, to the public and other stakeholders on a broad range of communicable disease issues
- Actively participate in and contribute to the coordination and/or management of outbreaks or incidents of state-wide significance.

The successful person
You will have:
- Specialised Public Health nursing knowledge and advanced clinical skills in the prevention and control of communicable diseases of Public Health significance.
- Ability to facilitate and contribute to the development and review of strategic policies, operational plans, procedures and guidelines relevant to the prevention and control of communicable disease
- Capacity for coordinating, planning and preparedness across Queensland Health for the management of a major communicable disease threat.
- Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team environment, to communicate at a high level and to actively lead and contribute to high level technical and interagency guidelines, documents and working groups.
This position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse.
A postgraduate qualification in Public Health or working towards such a qualification would be desirable.
