About the role
The Mater Clinical Governance Team is currently seeking an experienced clinical leader who is passionate about safety improvement and high-quality care to lead the Quality and Safety Team at Mater Private Hospital Townsville (MPHT) on a Permanent basis.
The Mater Clinical Governance Team provide support to the Mater Health Ministry in delivering safe and high-quality care. Mater is committed to creating an organisational culture that values safety, identifies system vulnerabilities, and clearly integrates risk, quality and safety functions and activities.
What you’ll be doing
As the Quality and Safety Manager is responsible for activities relating to Quality and Clinical Safety Management, and accreditation, across Mater Health, which are essential to the licensing, service level agreements and contracts.
As part of the management team you will have a state-wide focus on quality systems, consumer experience and managing clinical risk/safety. This role will work collaboratively with staff and managers/clinicians to ensure quality governance systems are in place, clinical risk frameworks are functioning effectively, and there is a continuous improvement cycle in the delivery of high-quality healthcare.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
Relevant qualifications and/or substantial work experience (greater than 5 years) in managing organisational clinical governance/quality systems at a group-wide, state-wide or national level. Postgraduate qualifications in a related field would be desirable.
Experience working in group-wide, state-wide or national clinical quality and safety roles in the healthcare sector would be desirable.
Demonstrated experience in leading, implementing and maintaining a quality management system and executing quality improvement measures.
Demonstrated experience in evaluating workplace practices against accreditation standards, quality systems and organisational policies and procedures.
Demonstrated experience in risk and change management.
Sound knowledge of the processes involved in maintaining accreditation status and compliance with accreditation standards.
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to influence others.
Advanced computing skills using a suite of software and ability to interrogate data.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive professional relationships.
High level written communication skills (including report and policy writing).
Proven conceptual and analytical ability, initiative and independent judgement (including audit experience).
Knowledge and understanding of healthcare sector in particular policies and practices that effects quality and clinical risk.
Contemporary quality and clinical risk management knowledge.
