Job description

Exciting opportunity to join our Leeton Processing Quality Team on a 3 month contract. 
 
Role 

The Quality Officer at Stahmann Webster will play a vital role in ensuring that food safety and quality compliance is maintained in accordance with both Company and industry standards. This role also carries responsibility for the technical compliance of Stahmann Webster and private label packaged goods in the marketplace.

This is a 3 month contract position with flexibility for full-time or part-time working arrangements.

Duties include but not limited to 

  • Review and maintain the Policies, Procedures and documentation of the Food Safety and Quality Management System and support continuous improvement and training of this framework.
  • Maintain currency and ensure compliance with Australian and international food legislation and labelling requirements, including GMP and HACCP standards.
  • Conduct, document and report on routine internal audits.
  • Document, conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions for internal and external non-conformances.
  • Participate in third party audits.
  • In collaboration with the operations team, conduct staff training as required.
  • Support operational staff in maintaining quality KPIs. 
  • Engage with and foster a positive food safety and quality culture with all levels of staff. 
  • Support customer experience through investigation of and response to complaints and other feedback.
  • Prepare, register, and dispatch product samples to third party laboratories.
  • Record third party laboratory results and release product for sale in the ERP system.
  • Conduct environmental testing, including documenting and reporting non-conformances.
  • Complete end of shelf-life assessments.
  • Conduct sampling and assessments of incoming raw materials and ingredients.
  • Maintain and order consumables.
  • Assist with assessments around the processing facility as required

Essential Criteria, Skills and Experience 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Food Science, Food Technology, Science or equivalent.
  • Experience in a Quality role within the food or similar manufacturing industry.
  • Meticulous approach and attention to detail.
  • Experience with GFSI and retailer quality systems. 
  • Experience in food safety and quality auditing.
  • Ability to conduct effective training.
  • Ability to stay calm and work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster and support a team approach.
  • Preparedness to work flexible hours when required.

Desirable

  • Trained internal food safety auditor. 
  • Meet formal HACCP training requirements. 
  • Knowledge of Halal and Kosher programs.
