About the role
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Quality Engineer reporting to the Head of Quality. This role will be responsible in supporting the whole product life cycle from introduction through to product in service. Working within the quality management system ensuring the planning, implementation, communication, and maintenance of polices, documentation, data, along with customer- specific requirements are embedded. The role is a customer facing role working alongside the Project Team and our customers.
Responsibilities
- Complete First Article Inspection reports (FAI reports).
- Lead APQP ensuring that PPAP are approved on-site when it is required.
- Lead problem solving activities utilising industry standard methodologies: 8D’s, 5 why’s, 3C, DMAIC, Ishikawa fish bone diagrams, FMEA’s.
- Support in the development of procedures in line with customer, AS, and ISO expectations.
- Manage customer Portals.
- Develop or update company complaint and inspection procedures to ensure capture, investigation, and correct documentation.
- Interface with customers to address changes, concerns, or complaints. Investigate product complaints and reported quality issues to ensure closure in accordance with company guidelines and external regulatory requirements.
- Produce reports monthly as required by either the company or in support of the customers’ requirements.
- Adherence to AS9100D and AS9145 and commit to driving continual improvement initiatives.
Skills & experience
- Engineering Degree, Diploma or demonstratable relevant work experience.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build teamwork and cooperation amongst work colleagues and intra-departmental staff.
- Knowledge of drawings, GD&T, APQP, SPC, FMEA, Kaizen, 6 sigma, AS9100D policies and procedures and manufacturing concepts.
- Experience, and at least considered an intermediate user, with office tools such Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong background in Quality and good understanding of Quality Principles.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Defence, Aerospace or Automotive Industries.
- Excellent drawing interpretation skills.
- Able to provide interpretation of complex requirements.
