Quality Engineer

What are we looking for? 

We are seeking a Quality assurance Engineer to join our team based in Adelaide. 

As a Quality Technician or Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for supporting the team in developing Product and Process validation/verification strategies. You will bring your passion and experience working in manufacturing operations and join a team who are passionate about quality and continuous improvement as well as promoting a positive team culture to help drive performance. This role leads initiatives to drive process optimisation and efficiency across our continuous manufacturing process by reducing variation and identifying waste in our process. 

Reporting to the Quality Manager this role will support the team by evaluating, re-engineering, and improving processes and systems that improve the overall performance both in existing products and support new product launches. This role requires you to engage with various internal and external stakeholders.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or Quality Engineering preferred.
• Experience with implementation of corrective action programs.
• Manufacturing industry experience is required (Plastics injection/blow mould)
• Knowledge in conducting PPAP.
• Solid works or CAD knowledge is necessary.
• Understand statistical methods (Minitab etc.), concepts and methodologies.
• Good understanding of metrology and measurement techniques
• Ability to interpret specifications and engineering drawings.
• Ability to interact effectively with peers within and outside the immediate team, to implement business improvement requirements.
• Sound understanding of Quality practices and continuous improvement.

Core tasks:

• Implement methods to inspect, test and evaluate reliability, precision and accuracy of processes, products and production equipment.
• Facilitate productivity improvement projects to reduce the cost of poor quality and add value to the business.
• Plan, control, and assure product and process quality in accordance with quality principles, these include planning processes, material control, acceptance sampling, and measurement systems. 
• Resolve quality issues/customer complaints by identifying problems, examining solutions, implementing action plans and verifying the effectiveness of the corrective actions. 
• Able to facilitate and complete PPAP, PFMEA, PCP documents for new product launches.
• Provide engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques.
• Design and develop gauges, jigs fixtures for use in metrology.
• Support understanding and awareness of quality tools and techniques across the business area.
• Development, maintenance and implementation of SOP, quality alerts and all quality inspection standards that govern quality criteria for related product, process and work practices.
• Contribute and assist in the development and implementation of LEAN & Continuous Improvement initiatives. Apply lean manufacturing/process improvement processes to investigate, analyse or achieve improved quality efficiency or effectiveness.
