The role:
As our Project Quality Manager you will play an important role in the quality control and safety requirements of the welding process. You will assist in the coordination of all welding activity on a vessel in line with relevant procedures, this includes Pre-Weld Fit Up, Welding and Post-Weld Checks.
The Welding Supervisor will also be required to support the Production Supervisor in day-to-day management of the Welding activities to provide relevant information to the production team for consolidation progress.
In terms of specific responsibilities, you will:
- Supervise a team of Quality professionals.
- Liaise and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage Quality milestones, attend close out inspections with the client, DNV and Commonwealth.
- Compiling & maintaining Weld Records, Welder Qualifications & delivery of OQE activities in accordance with Shadbolt QMS and ISO 3834 requirements.
- Provide support and guidance to welders throughout the welding process. Develop innovative solutions to welding problems.
- Record non-conformances and technical anomalies via the correct reporting mechanisms.
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Welding Supervisor AS 1796 Certificate 10 qualification.
- 5 Years practical welding supervising experience.
- Shipbuilding knowledge and experience.
- Good understanding of the complex nature of the welding sector, and how theoretical knowledge works in practice.
- Understanding of dimensional measurement and budget tolerance.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with customers at all levels.
