Summary:
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering radiation therapy to cancer patients under the supervision of a radiation oncologist and other healthcare professionals. They create treatment plans, monitor patients during treatment, and manage side effects.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct radiation therapy sessions according to physician's orders
- Administer appropriate dosages of radiation
- Monitor patients during treatment and manage side effects
- Maintain accurate records of treatment sessions
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans
- Educate patients and their family members about treatment procedures and side effects
- Ensure radiation safety procedures are followed at all times
- Maintain equipment and keep treatment rooms clean and organised
- Participate in quality assurance programs to ensure high-quality patient care
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in radiation therapy or a related field
- Current license in Radiation Therapy
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in radiation therapy
- Knowledge of radiation safety procedures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as required
