About the Opportunity South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) are seeking enthusiastic, dedicated and professional Radiation Therapists to enhance the highly skilled radiotherapy team for Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals. 

To be successful in this role you will be a highly effective communicator who can work seamlessly within a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team. You will be driven to provide optimum care to patients and actively ensure continuous improvement for both your own skills and the department to ensure quality, safe, patient care. Bringing your strong clinical experience to the role, you will be able to ensure outstanding service delivery and work as part of the team to aid education, mentoring and instruction to staff and students within the department and work to grow the future of radiation therapy. Contribution to quality and research initiatives is encouraged.

SWSLHD Radiation Oncology Service operates over two sites (Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals) and consists of 3 Elekta Linacs, Orthovoltage and a Phillips CT at Campbelltown and 3 Elekta Linacs, a Tomotherapy unit, Brachytherapy, Orthovoltage, a Phillips CT and a dedicated 3T Siemens MRI at Liverpool to offer patients in the district a comprehensive Radiotherapy Service. The successful applicant will be rostered across both sites to maximise their development and meet service needs.

An eligibility list will be created from this recruitment for future permanent and temporary opportunities.

What You'll be DoingTo competently perform roles, within a multi-disciplinary team, as an accredited Radiation Therapist practitioner in simulation, planning, treatment, quality assurance and quality improvement, research and teaching in Radiation Therapy procedures to ensure high-quality patient-centred care is delivered and maintained.

  1. Successful completion of a degree in Medical Radiation Technology or equivalent qualification recognised by the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT).
  2. Full Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Radiation Therapist.
  3. Hold a Valid NSW EPA Radiation Licence or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
  4. Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills, written and spoken, ability to relate with patients, carers and families, and the various staff groups within the multi-disciplinary team.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge and application of radiation therapy quality assurance, radiation safety principles and practices, and participation in incident reporting, site group meetings and adherence to NSW Health policies and guidelines.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work successfully in small teams, self-motivated with initiative and able to cope with dynamic and changing work practices including flexibility in work hours and location.
  7. Demonstrate sound knowledge and experience in all aspects of radiation therapy planning and treatment, with multimodality image verification, conventional and advanced planning and treatment delivery that may include, but not restricted to, 4DCT and 4DCBCT, IMRT and VMAT, SRS and SABR techniques, DIBH and Seed Tracking.
  8. Demonstrate knowledge of current trends and developments in radiation therapy techniques and technology, with a clear commitment to research, innovation and evidence based practice.
