The Opportunity:
Due to a recent promotion, Komatsu Mining is looking for an additional Project Manager to bolster the rebuild team’s project management capabilities, strengthen client relationships, and position the team for continued success.
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you’ll be joining a fluid team responsible for delivering rebuild projects for Komatsu’s underground longwall and development equipment, as well as original Mining Equipment when required.
You’ll manage the full lifecycle of each project, from precontract, to execution, to delivery.
Your proven communication and effective stakeholder engagement skills enable you to build and maintain productive relationships with key customer personnel including project leaders, planners, supervisors, superintendents, managers.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Plan, initiate, and control resources needed to successfully manage the project.
- Allocate, monitor, and control financial resources to the project plan as per Komatsu Underground policy.
- Specification change control.
- Direct planners, quality, supply, engineering, sales, operations, HR, EH&S, and finance to meet the requirements of the project and corporate conformance.
- Administer contracts, variations, and contract closures within the Komatsu policy.
- Provide direction to the relevant parts of the business in an integrated way to ensure excellent customer service to both internal and external customers, and greater business efficiency.
- Lead Projects, comprising of various employees, contractors, and interdepartmental support staff to ensure onsite work is carried out in a timely manner and to customer’s expectations.
- Controlling costs and ensuring work is completed on time and on budget.
- Review and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and actual costs.
- Coordinate changes across the entire project.
- Control changes to project scope.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum trade qualifications in fitting or electrical is mandatory and further studies in Mechanical, Electrical and/or Industrial Engineering, Diploma or Degree is required.
- Project Management qualifications would be well regarded.
- Multi-million-dollar project and/or contract experience.
- Familiarity with original equipment manufacturing and/or major equipment repair and /or maintenance experience preferred.
- Joy products and/or Mining Equipment knowledge beneficial.
- Customer management experience preferred.
- Machine design, fabrication, welding, hydraulic, electrical and automation knowledge required.
- Mining and/or heavy industry experience with underground mine experience desirable.
- Proficient use of the MS Office suit, including Project, as well as experience in SAP.
