Access theIn the role of Regional Planning Manager, you will support the Regional Director to ensure that, through the State Planning Program (SPP), there is consistency in the district programs and the right projects have robust business cases (value for money and address deficiency) for inclusion in Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP) development.The position works with Transport Strategy and Planning branch to develop and maintain a 10-15 year forward planning program for investment priorities and performs the role of customers' representative for route and link assessments.Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Lead, manage and coordinate the region's network; corridor and strategic planning and performance activities through effective relationships and engagement.
- Provide authoritative, strategic advice to the Regional Leadership Team on road system planning and road corridor planning to ensure all aspects of investment prioritisation deliver the “right projects” which are added to QTRIP, including the development of a 10-15-year planning program of works.
- Provide advice and support in the development of a 10-year pipeline of upgrade works that are strategic and prioritised across the region addressing departmental and regional strategic objectives and priorities to maximise the long-term performance of the transport network.
- Develop and maintain ongoing constructive relationships with districts and other government agencies and jurisdictions, key industry stakeholders, community, and internal and external client networks, and actively influence and collaborate with local governments in preparing strategic forward programs that contribute to regional program objectives and priorities.
- Ensure that appropriate and current road system planning frameworks are implemented, and business cases are submitted through the State Planning Process
- Act as an escalation point for project decisions, funding decisions, engagement decisions and identify items for further escalation to the Regional Director
- Review planning artefacts (Strategic) to ensure Project Nomination Form outputs are achieved and issues have been adequately defined in terms of scope or contingency.
- Participate as a member of the Regional Leadership Team and represent the Regional Director as required, including the preparation of briefings and regular reporting.
- Provide functional leadership and guidance for the planning and corridor management teams across the region, including leading the Managers Project Planning and Corridor Management communities of practice.
- A current Class ‘C' Drivers Licence
- Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
- A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalence which is assessed/accepted by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks or a degree in Town Planning or recognised equivalence, acceptable by the Planning Institute of Australia.
- Extensive experience working for a large multi-disciplined transport infrastructure organisation in a planning role would be highly regarded.
- Experience in the development of strategic transport artifacts.
