The Lions Eye Institute is one of the largest eye research institutes in the southern hemisphere with a reputation for excellence in research and clinical care. The Institute employs scientists, clinicians and support staff to conduct first class scientific research into blindness and incorporates one of Australia's largest ophthalmic practices.
We are currently seeking a committed and experienced Registered Nurse to join our friendly and patient focused team. This role is being offered on a 12-month fixed term basis with possibility of further extension.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Ensure that patients receive the appropriate, competent and quality clinical care to the highest standards.
- Assess visual acuity and eye conditions prior to consultation.
- Perform computerised testing for routine patient preparation.
- Assist with minor procedures.
- Proactively ensure that all equipment is available and appropriately set up ready for use before the commencement of each case.
- Carry out all tasks with a commitment to customer service, which includes patients, staff, clinicians and allied health professionals.
- Follow all infection control procedures and requirements.
- Rotate to other clinic areas as required.
Skills & Experience
- Current Nursing Registration with AHPRA
- Demonstrate supportive and knowledgeable communication
- Be keen to learn and work well as part of a team
- Flexibility in work practices
- Ophthalmology/Clinic experience (highly regarded)
- Excellent communication and liaison skills
