ABOUT THE HOSPITAL
Malvern Private Hospital is one of Australia’s leading addiction facilities, with a strong record of accomplishment of positive client outcomes. We are a 34 bed Addiction and Recovery Accredited Hospital, operating under the abstinence-based, trauma informed model of care, utilising tools, and practices from the Minnesota Model. We are set apart by our understanding of addiction as the mind’s way of coping with developmental, emotional conflicts and trauma.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking to grow our nursing staff team due to consistent growth within our program. If you are highly skilled and motivated Registered Nurses or Registered Psychiatric Nurse who wish to work in an innovative residential AOD program working with a strong and highly skilled multidisciplinary team of professionals caring for up to 34 inpatients and 15-20 outpatients a day.
Our nursing team are pro-active in guidance, support, and direction to our voluntary clients. They coordinate client admission, medication management, client behaviours and client assessment throughout their shifts. The successful applicant will have clear communication, a knowledge of AOD or mental health, patient management, and general nursing expertise.
They will be able to provide flexibility in rostering and integration to our nursing team.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Full AHPRA registration as RN or RPN.
- Expertise and skill in all general nurse practice – medications, assessment, observation, and dressings
- Current BLS certificate and experience
- Strong assessment and management of both physical and psychological deterioration
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Qualifications or experience in caring for mental health clients.
- Knowledge or experience in AOD and the 12-Step programs.
- Strong verbal, written and communication skills to safely manage and plan for our vulnerable clients.
- Working knowledge of the NSQHS and National Mental Health Standards as well as knowledge of legislative requirements and practice standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external professionals.
- Flexibility across all shifts, 7 days a week.
