Where you will be based
The Harm Reduction Program has three locations including at Redfern, Marrickville and Canterbury. The Registered Nurse position will be predominately based at Redfern Health Centre however will be expected to travel on a need's basis across Sydney Local Health District.
About the role
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of patient centred; evidence informed nursing care that promotes identified health outcomes. The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary healthcare team. The position provides expert nursing service and engages in direct patient care. This is an autonomous role, working with the CNC2 across numerous sites across SLHD. The Registered Nurse engages in outreach and the establishment of new clinical services as identified by service.
Specifically, the Harm Reduction ProgramRegistered Nurse will deliver high quality evidence based Primary Health nursing care to drug and alcohol clients including people who inject drugs. The Registered Nurse will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing screening and testing for blood-bourne viruses, provide wound care and sexual health screening, conduct outreach services, work across numerous primary SLHD health sites and provide referral pathways to internal and external stakeholders.

- A current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills, and willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues.
- A current NSW Driver's Licence (P2 Licence acceptable).

About working for SLHD
This is a Category A position. To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy (PD2023_022)
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all Health Care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
