Fortescue Hydrogen Systems, Product Development team are seeking a motivated individual to join our fast paced and high performing team as a Regulatory Compliance & Maintenance Specialist. The Product Development team currently operate hydrogen process plants and hydrogen generating test stands that operate continuously (24/7) to obtain data that influences design and assists with commercialisation of our products.
Reporting to the Operations & Maintenance Supervisor, the Regulatory Compliance & Maintenance Specialist will have an E&I background and be tasked with ensuring we are meeting our compliance obligations in several areas including EEHA (AS60079) and relating to internationally sourced equipment. The role will also involve maintenance planning, scheduling, execution, and record keeping for our many electrolyser process plants and test stands. You will also lead function testing campaigns for safety critical equipment and manage critical spares to minimise plant operational downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements is met across our facility’s operational areas (including laboratories and process plants)
- Perform inspections of internationally sourced electrical and process equipment to determine its compliance for use in Australia. This may involve gap analyses of international standards to determine that the equipment meets or exceeds Australian standards and is safe to operate
- Carry out rectification works to achieve compliance if required and report on your findings
- Liaise with Operations to develop maintenance plans and schedules for our process plants and test stands to minimise downtime
- Lead function testing and inspection campaigns with the support of on-shift operations E&I & Mechanical Technicians
- Manage critical equipment spares; contribute to plant improvement registers & assist with plant improvement shutdowns and upgrades as required
- Build and maintain Hazardous Area Verification Dossiers for each of our process plants
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a hazardous process environment in industries such as oil & gas, power generation, chemical processing etc.
- E&I Trade (WA Electrical licence, Cert III/IV Instrumentation) background
- Thorough knowledge, understanding and implementation methods of relevant Australian standards, including but not limited to:
- 3000, 3008, 2243 (series), 3820, 60204.1, 60079 (series)
- Strong electrical and instrumentation experience - specifically in being able to maintain, repair, calibrate and rebuild electrical and instrumentation equipment that is critical for hydrogen processing systems
- Cert IV in EEHA Inspection & Maintenance
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills and software familiarity including the use of MS Office Suite and SAP
