The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to recruit a
Release Manager to manage system releases for the
Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) section, ensuring releases are coordinated, communicated, and are of a high quality with minimum possible outage.This is a permanent position at the Executive Lev
EL 1 classification level. The successful applicant will be expected to work full-time hours from either of our offices located in Brisbane, Belconnen (Canberra) or Docklands (Melbourne), although a hybrid model of working from home and the office applies.
About the roleThe role will typically include the following duties:
- continually maintain and communicate the release schedule for DAS applications
- regularly consult with various stakeholders to ensure the release schedule meets business and technical considerations
- manage the delivery of releases, including planning, monitoring, reporting and risks/issues identification/management - to ensure releases are delivered on time and meet quality expectations
- coordinate ‘on the day’ release activities, ensuring release/deployment plans are executed successfully and enacting contingency plans as appropriate
- coordinate release ‘go/no-go’ activities and documentation prior to major releases
- participate in change management practices to identify any upcoming releases impacting DAS and our stakeholders
- actively drive continuous improvement in the release process
- maintain documentation related to procedures on releases, various notification lists and dependences
- participate in the Program Increment Planning and Scrum of Scrums (SoS) from a release management perspective.
Please note that this role does require some out of standard hours support during releases (compensated as per our Enterprise Agreement conditions).About the business areaThe
Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) section within TSD provides critical development and support for the ABS’s data sourcing function. The program is at a growth stage, and we are working with business to deliver on a multi-year change program, as well as continuing to maintain BAU services. The types of solutions we deliver include:
- online surveys
- administrative Data Acquisition
- telephone, video and face to face interviewing
- customer/case management
- Interviewer management and support
- sample management
- identity management and self service.
Solutions under the responsibility of the section include a mix of external and internal facing systems.What we are looking for (selection criteria)This role will suit an experienced ICT professional with experience in managing complex systems releases. Those with experience in dedicated
