About the Role
We are seeking an experienced postdoctoral scientist in Atmospheric Modelling to contribute to a new high-resolution coupled modelling system, focusing on atmospheric convection and weather-climate interactions. Funded by the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Weather of the 21st Century, this role offers networking opportunities and involvement in cutting-edge climate research.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Significantly contribute towards the research effort of the Centre’s Modelling Science Team and develop research expertise with an increasing degree of autonomy.
  • Conduct internationally competitive research, resulting in publications in high impact journals.
  • Contribute to training, scientific mentoring and supervision of students.
  • Actively participate at Centre and School meetings and contribute to planning activities or committee work within the Centre, School and discipline.

Who We Are Looking For
You will ideally have a strong aptitude for independent research with a solid publication record and the ability to prepare reports. Additionally, you should demonstrate a desire to build an academic career, excel in communication and collaboration, and possess strong organizational skills to meet deadlines efficiently.

You will also have:

  • Completed a PhD in Atmospheric science or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in Atmospheric Modelling, including model experimentation.
  • Demonstrated experience with high-performance computing, including working on large codes in a version controlled environment.
  • A demonstrated aptitude for independent research, with a sound publication record in relevant areas, commensurate with experience and opportunities.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
