About the Role

The Department of Paediatrics at the University of Melbourne seeks an experienced postdoctoral scholar with a strong background in qualitative research to lead the qualitative components of an NHMRC-funded research program focused on improving the detection and treatment of ADHD in Australia. The successful candidate will demonstrate a robust publication record and will be responsible for meeting research performance criteria while actively promoting paediatrics and Developmental Mental Health disciplines. Additionally, they will contribute to departmental administration and uphold the department's commitment to high-quality teaching and research in child health.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the qualitative research components of a program of ADHD research including study design, data collection, and analysis
  • Contribute to other research activities at the direction of the research lead
  • In collaboration with the research team, conduct internationally competitive research, resulting in publications in high impact journals
  • Contribute to and publish academic papers and other scholarly outputs to a high academic standard in accordance with the research expectations of the University of Melbourne

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills in English, enabling effective collaboration in a multi-disciplinary research team. They will demonstrate outstanding organisational abilities, ensuring timely completion of projects while meeting deadlines.

You will also have:

  • Higher degree (PhD or MD) in a health-related field
  • Appropriate level of qualitative research expertise gained from a combination of experience, training, or professional accreditation
  • A demonstrated aptitude for independent research, with a sound publication record in relevant areas, commensurate with experience and opportunities.
  • Strong evidence of ability and desire to build an academic research career trajectory

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
