About the Discipline of Injury and Trauma

Injury and Trauma undertakes research which focusses on understanding the nature, causes and effects of human injury, for injury prevention and support initiatives. This research has strong industry and consumer engagement, working with data in a variety of formats from clinical epidemiological repositories through to community co-design for injury initiatives. Our team has specific expertise in Indigenous research methodologies, consumer engagement, co-design, epidemiology and biostatistics, which combined with public health expertise, allows the team to cover a wide variety of facets related to trauma and injury.


About the Role

The Research Officer will support research activity for the Discipline of Injury and Trauma, with particular focus on the SMART-PH (Digitising Information for Practice in Public Health) research project. They will work closely with the Chief Investigator, Investigator team and project manager, and provide support for SMART-PH implementation, data collection, analysis of data and the preparation of research outcomes (manuscripts for publication, community and partner reports and workshops).


About You

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Undergraduate, honours or master's degree in public health/similar field or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education/training
  • Apply skills in both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and public health across a range of tasks and to assist others in the completion of research projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both autonomously and in a team environment, including the ability to provide routine direction to junior staff/students
  • Effectively prioritise and complete multiple tasks whilst applying sound judgment and initiative.
  • Computer skills including MS Office, Adobe suite and may include statistical analysis packages or qualitative research packages.
