As the Research Scientist within GenesisCare, you have the accountability and responsibility to develop and implement real-world data, technical research projects and clinical trials according to the company’s research strategy. There will be a significant focus with this role on the MR-Linac and associated workflows. You are also responsible for grant applications with external parties to support investigator-initiated research projects.
We currently have a part-time position available, working 3 days per week on an initial maximum term contract.
More specifically, you will:
- Develop research strategic plans and policies.
- Develop and implement clinical trial protocols for patients and ensure trials are conducted as per procedures and regulations.
- Provide advice on relevant research and development opportunities applicable to the organisation.
- Work closely with relevant parties within GenesisCare to determine, implement and monitor research.
- Monitor leading-edge developments in relevant disciplines and assess implications for the organisation; identify research, RWD and grant application opportunities, and priorities in line with oncology research strategy, with focus on MR-Linac.
- Develop research protocols in conjunction with clinicians, medical writers and statisticians.
- Lead major research projects and coordinate activities of other research staff to ensure the success of research projects.
- Assess the benefits and monitor the costs and effectiveness of research and development activities.
- Actively monitor grant application opportunities and work closely with relevant parties to prepare for external grant application for research projects proposed by GenesisCare researchers and partners.
- Interpret results of research projects and recommend associated product and service development innovations.
- Monitor the conduct of trials at various sites and review data for regulatory submissions.
- Prepare research manuscripts for publication in quality peer reviewed journals and present research outcomes at conferences and meetings.
- Mentor and supervise GC staff with an interest in research, undergraduate and postgraduate students and provide guidance on quantitative research methods.
- Engage external stakeholders including industry sponsors, academic and collaborative research groups, and external investigators to progress research strategy and trials.
- PhD in medicine, life sciences or related field is required.
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar role interacting with medical professionals.
- 5+ years’ experience in a clinical oncology role.
- Existing network with researchers in the field of oncology is highly desirable.
- Experience with MRI technology is highly desirable.
- Track record of publishing peer reviewed manuscripts.
- Track record of running multidisciplinary research projects.
- Track record of supervising junior researchers and students.
- Ability to quickly learn technical content and confidently discuss with experts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in an effective, proactive and co-operative manner.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate both through oral and written forms.
- Solution driven, high level of initiative and flexibility and the ability to meet deadlines while balancing multiple priorities.
- Strong computer literacy with knowledge of clinical trials software and MS Office suite.
- Flexibility in working times and locations.
- Ability to travel domestically and international, if required.
