About The Role
The Compliance Officer will lead the development, implementation and maintenance of Compliance Activities within the Sunshine Coast Recycling Sites. As an active member of the team you will focus on continuous improvement and ensure that systems and processes comply with legal, customer and accreditation standards responsible for leading initiatives and enacting operational strategy, while managing risk across the Buderim and Caloundra RRC sites for Environmental and Quality Assurance matters. Your responsibilities will include:
- Work collaboratively with the Workplace Health and Safety team to manage WH&S risks at the sites.
- Deliver advice and recommendations around quality assurance, operational risk management and continuous improvement approaches.
- Work closely with supporting functions to ensure efficient and effective systems are maintained.
- Drive analysis of existing business processes to support the implementation of internal and external audit recommendations.
- Support internal and external audits, conducting independent and transparent Workplace Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality audits and compliance assessments.
About you:
- Knowledge of safety, environment and quality assurance and process improvement techniques with experience applying these in driving change.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills to ensure clear and concise information is relayed.
- 2+ years Industry experience and working knowledge, preferably within the Resource Recovery or Environmental Compliance industry.
- Working knowledge of quality standards and regulations, ideally including
- ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 31000
- Environmental Protection Act 1994, Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011 and associated legislation.
- Council Recycling – local policies, procedures and WH&S.
Desirable:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Occupation Health & Safety or a related field.
