Revenue Officer
Position Description
The primary purpose of this role is to coordinate the Council’s revenue and rating function, ensuring that the Council efficiently and effectively collects the revenue it requires to operate while following all appropriate legislative requirements and the Council’s policies and procedures.
The position reports directly to the Finance Manager and is part of the Council’s Finance Team that forms part of the Corporate Services function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Levy and issue all rates and charges in accordance with legislation and Council policy.
- Manage, analyse, and monitor water meter readings and organise the issuing of Water Consumption Charge notices.
- Issue invoices for contributions by landowners to infrastructure in accordance with legislation.
- Oversee the collection of all outstanding debt in accordance with Council policy.
- Assist in the preparation of clear, wellstructured work papers and data reconciliations to meet NSW Audit Office and other government departments requirements, and to support effective and efficient reporting throughout the financial year.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in similar roll with related qualifications (preferred).
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to plan, organise, set priorities and manage time.
- High level customer service skills and able to engage with various types of stakeholders.
- Ability to read, interpret and understand legislations, statutory obligations, regulations, and council policies to make informed decisions.
- Capable of working independently and using initiative to problem-solve.
- Current Australian Driver's License.

This position is full time classified at Band 10 under Council’s salary structure with a salary from $65,505.08 to $71,400.06 per annum based on skills and experience plus 11% statutory superannuation, 70-hour 9-day fortnight. Conditions are in accordance with Local Government (State) Award 2023.
