About the Role
Flinders University Governance, Legal and Risk team have an opening for a Risk and Insurance Business Partner - this is an opportunity to participate in our overall risk program within a reasonably small team.
With exposure to the Senior Executive team, the Risk and Insurance Business Partner is accountable for managing the end-to-end process for the annual renewal of the University's insurance program, along with the general management of the University's insurance program and Risk Management Framework. This position services each of the business units of the University under broad direction from the Associate Director, Risk and Assurance.
This is achieved by:
- Acting as the primary point of contact with external parties including the University's brokers.
- Engaging with internal stakeholders to manage the timely collection of data required for the renewal, in accordance with set deadlines.
- Critically reviewing with stakeholders the nature and terms of insurance cover including proposed limits and sub-limits of cover, to ensure they fit within the University's risk appetite.
- Working in conjunction with other relevant areas of the University to provide insurance related solutions where required (e.g. travel).
- Evaluation and identification of areas of insurance Risk and advising on appropriate insurance cover and related solutions.
- Maintaining the University's Risk and Insurance intranet pages including the documentation of supporting resources such as standard operating procedures, toolkits, etc. Analysing, managing, and reporting on the implementation and outcomes of the University's Risk Management Framework, audit actions and the Insurance program.
- Management of the University Risk and Audit Registers including the provision of analysis, advice, and support to stakeholders.
About You
A dynamic individual, you are highly adept at building effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and have exemplary interpersonal and oral communication skills. Your organisational skills are second to none, as is your ability to independently prepare accurate correspondence and reports, and (where appropriate), make recommendations to senior University managers to a high professional standard.
We would expect the successful candidate to have completed a degree and possess extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination or experience and/or education and/or training
A highly developed understanding of, and experience in the insurance industry or insurance related roles is critical to success in this role.

Governance, Legal and Risk provide governance, legal, policy, compliance, insurance and risk management support to the University and its staff.
