Focus of the Role
- The Risk Governance, Assurance, & Compliance – Senior Lead plays a critical role in embedding, management, and ongoing monitoring of Telstra’s HSWE Risk Governance, Assurance and Compliance framework and programs. You will bring your extensive expertise and experience to manage high level assurance and compliance activities to ensure that Telstra and the business is able to meet its legal, regulatory and compliance obligations as well as its performance objectives.

People, Culture and Communications - Wellbeing & Workplace Relations oversees Telstra's wellbeing and workplace relations programs.
- Oversee the strategic and operational development of the Risk Governance framework and support the SSW team and business in its implementation and assessment of effectiveness
- Provide SME input into the data sources and metrics used for the generation of reports to inform our internal and external stakeholders
- Oversee and drive the operational delivery of Telstra’s HSWE assurance and compliance framework to ensure it is effective, fit for purpose and meets our regulatory obligations and compliance standards
- Establish and oversee in consultation with the SSW team and business stakeholders a robust, and effective compliance and assurance program and detailed plan
- In line with the agreed assurance plan, lead and undertake second line audits/assurance activities to determine how effectively the business are managing their risk. Where appropriate, leverage other second or third line function assurance activities.
- Coordinate and lead Telstra’s external audit programs to meet our regulatory, contractual and license obligations including communicating outcomes to all relevant stakeholders
- Support Board/ARC reporting with a focus on communicating Risk, Compliance and Assurance programs and outcomes.
- Ability to act as a strong, inspirational, and transformational leader.
- Strong stakeholder management and ability to build and nurture long term relationships with Senior Leaders
- Strong people management skills – experienced in managing a team of HSWE professionals (preferably in high-risk industries)
- Deep knowledge and proven capability on data management for performance analysis, trends, and insights to drive continual process improvement.
- Ability to interpret data and results and translate them into engaging and valuable datasets to support our business making inform decisions. End-user experience front of mind.
- Experience in dealing with complex HSWE issues.
- Proven skills in innovation, creativity, and marketing (Human-centred)
- Formal qualifications in HSWE (e.g., degree, post graduate studies or significant equivalent experience)
- Other relevant business and industry experience.
