We have an exciting opportunity for a Safety Advisor to provide site safety leadership and ensure compliance with both Dowell policies and current WHS legislation at our Smithfield site. The role will draw on your ability to facilitate the implementation of safety initiatives, improve safety performance, document standard operating procedures and work towards a zero-harm environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with relevant WH&S legislation and Dowell safety policies
- Coordinate rehabilitation and return-to-work processes and manage them to ensure employees return to full duties.
- Consult and engage with employees to cultivate a positive safety culture and drive safety processes.
- Develop site safety KPIs and effectively communicate performance.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement safety strategies to ensure all processes are up to date.
- Document Standard Operating Procedures with work instructions and visual aids.
- Perform safety audits and on-site investigations to correct potential hazards and safety equipment.
- Submit monthly safety statistics and investigation reports.
The successful candidate for this role will have:
- Relevant and similar experience in an equivalent safety role (construction or manufacturing industry experience is preferable).
- Excellent knowledge of the development and implementation of safety plans, programs, processes, and systems to reduce risk.
- A professional, positive, and approachable disposition.
- Ability to influence and coach team leaders, line managers,
and employees. - Ability to drive positive results through consultation with employees.
- Lead by example by demonstrating positive safety behaviours.
- Knowledge of ICAM or equivalent incident investigation processes.
