We are currently seeking a Safety Managerto join our team.
Day to day, the role will involve:- Identify key areas and develop WHS training needs analysis throughout the project lifecycle in consultation with client requirements and in consultation with learning & development.
- Ensure monitoring current competencies and support ongoing development needs.
- Identify areas for improvement, e.g. equipment or competency training of relevant tools.
- Manage WHS personnel involvement, communication and reporting of incident investigations.
- Prepare and update all required Project Safety Plans, Environmental Management Plans and Registers. Ensure all Planning processes are followed and provide operational guidance to key project personnel on implementation of WHS legal and procedural requirements
- Acquire and uphold all existing Health & Safety Procedures and identify where procedures require updating as necessary to meet project requirements.
- Ensure all procedures and processes are adequately implemented and managed on the project.
- Track progress against role & responsibility profiles and report on activities to project leadership team.
- Enter and extract data from incident management system.
- Monitor (ongoing) as subcontractors commence.
- Identify WHS requirements for subcontractor’s onsite.
- Review Subcontractor WHS Interview Questionnaires and verify the capability of the subcontractor to deliver the required work task to agreed WHS standards.
- Report any key issues to project leadership team and regional safety and environment staff
- Complete project monthly reports.
- Participate in Project WHS Evaluations
- Ensure that workplaces are implementing processes that allow for effective assessment and administration of consulting subcontract, service and supplier WHS performance.
- Communicate project success and failures to project leadership team for lessons learnt.
- Manage and ensure compliance of inspections and audit rosters, assist relevant stakeholders and manage registers to track compliance with project targets and lead indicators.
- Assist with inspections, observations and high-risk audits in line with the scope of works utilising appropriate systems and procedure tools.
- Report regularly to the project management team on audit findings and improvement opportunities
- Provide guidance in best practice WHS training and planning to project leadership team.
- Degree, industrial technical engineer, engineer, degree or master's degree. Preferably in the electrical specialty.
- Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Cert IV in WHS,
- At least 5-10 years of experience as Health and Safety Managers in the construction of electrical lines and electrical substations, as a health and Safety Manager.
- Management & Leadership 4 years
- Audit Management practices 2 to 3 years
- ISO 45001 Internal Auditor Training
- White Card training
- English: advanced (C2 certificate) or native. Spanish is not necessary, but it will be highly valued.
- Specific training in electrical substations or electrical installations (High voltage, Medium voltage)
- Specific training in health and safety (work at heights and electrical risks)

- Skills in WHS management system techniques and tools.
- Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and development and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects.
- Ability to transfer risk controls and assessment strategies across projects within the Project.
- High level understanding of Incident Management and reporting involving multiple internal and external parties.
- Conducting and interpreting audits and reviews.
- Supporting stakeholder groups related to the Project, e.g. Frontline employees, first line managers and middle managers.
- Skill in using and supporting WHS Management information systems within the Project, reporting and continuous improvement on performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance.
- Training in high risk activities such as Working at heights, confined space and rescue training.
- Ability to conduct one on one coaching and assessment.
- Knowledge of Safety & Rehabilitation Management Systems and relevant IMS procedures.
- Knowledge of Australian Safety legislation and statutes and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to the Project.
- Knowledge of project and operational risk management procedures and processes.
- Detailed knowledge of procedural and high risk activity auditing compliance and reporting procedures and processes.
- Knowledge of project management structure, plans and implications for Safety and accountabilities.
- Knowledge of document compliance procedures and processes and understanding of technology to support Safety systems.
- Knowledge of compliance and reporting procedures and processes.
- Expert ability technology and communication management systems to support Safety outcomes.
- Ability to positively identify all potential and imminent hazards on a site, and be able to act immediately to correct them.
