Maclean seeks to recruit suitably qualified and experienced Sales Engineer – Electrical, to further expand and develop our EXpress Solution offer to the market. EXpress solutions encompass the assembly and value-added services of Electrical Equipment for Hazardous Areas and Industrial Applications. This position has a dual Engineering and Sales product focus, servicing Energy, Mining and Industrial customer segments. 

As a suitably qualified electrical engineer with good current or developing knowledge of IEC 60079 series standards you will be responsible for the growth and certification of an existing workshop facility to gain additional certification from the IEC Ex scheme working alongside our ISO 9001:2015 quality assurance team. The Sales Engineer would be responsible for the market development of value-added services under our EXpress Solution’s brand supporting the sales team with product assessment and selection ensuring compliance to our customers requests. The Sales Engineer would be our primary technical focal point for our EXpress Solutions brand and related products. 

The Sales Engineer role would encompass a degree of product management of international brands of which we represent, and the development and growth of brand and product into strategic customer segments and regions.  The role would also encompass the ability to identify and source product from local and international manufacturers and participate and manage our tender activity with the Internal sales team and Projects group.  

The position will include the following functions:

  • Provide excellent service and help to build relationships with ourmajor blue-chip customers and manufacturer as our technical focal point. 
  • To develop our existing workshop activity and be the driving force to attain the relevant certification required to build competency and technical ability to expand our EXpress Solution’s brand to our existing and new industrial customer base.
  • To develop additional internal process in line with our ISO 9001:2015 system for the assembly of EEHA and Industrial equipment. This will require close working relationship with QA, Sales, and workshop personnel. 
  • To represent the company in a professional manner to ensure technical competency and compliance to IEC Ex and manufacturer standards for EEHA and industrial equipment. You will be the technical focal point and signatory for technical submissions to our customers.
  • When required you will assist in the development of technical submissions ensuring technical compliance from manufacturer quotations and/or preparing internal quotations and drawings for our projects and sales team.
  • To identify, qualify and develop opportunities with a strong focus on the specification to maximize the potential of the Company brands and products aligned to our EXpress Solutions brands.  
  • Provide technical sales support and product consulting to customers.
  • Strong attention to detail and work within a team environment.

The Successful Applicant

Having previous customer sales experience within electrical (EEHA) sales markets and knowledge of relevant products, IEC Ex standards is paramount to the success of this role. 

This is a position for an electrical Sales Engineer who has good communication skills and commercial acumen with the ability to help us to develop our EXpress Solution offer to our market and work with our manufactures of key brands to maximize potential. Excellent computer skills with the MS suite and relevant drawing software such as CAD is required.

A good level of technical detail is required to ensure all customer requirements and relevant standards are met during the quotation and sales processing stages. 

Remuneration includes a competitive base salary and a Company bonus plan with company vehicle or allowance, plus the usual working tools.   The working environment is based in a lively and modern Wangara based office, assembly workshop and warehousing complex consisting of a knowledgeable and team focused workforce.
