What you'll be doingThe Nurse Manager of the Ambulatory Services is a senior leadership role of The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN) within the CARPA Directorate at Randwick and Westmead. The Ambulatory services include the Medical Day Only Unit, Assessment and Review clinics, Hospital in the Home, Integrated high risk care coordination service and the Outpatients Department. Additional functions in related Ambulatory Services may be included in the future.The Nurse Manager reports operationally to the Clinical Program Directors and professionally to the Director of Nursing. This position works closely with Heads of Departments, Nurse Managers, and Nursing Unit Managers to ensure safe, effective, and ethical care is maintained. This role will establish relationships, systems and processes through engagement with internal and external key stakeholders to support an integrated service that meets organisational and patient/family needs. The Nurse Manager will provide leadership, mentorship, role modeling and support in the achievement of excellence in clinical practice.The Nurse Manager will be involved in the provision of the strategic, operational direction and services at a hospital, Network and at State-wide level. This position will work with the SCHN Executive and Clinical program Directors to inform and respond to State and National policies. The role will lead and support the implementation of the SCHN strategic plan and clinical services plan as they are relevant to Ambulatory services
  • Current Registration with the National Registration Board (AHPRA) with recent, extensive and relevant post registration experience in child health or related Ambulatory Services maybe an advantage. Appropriate post graduate qualifications in a health related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and influence other health professionals.
  • Demonstrated excellence in strategic planning and policy development skills including ability to use data to inform planning, evaluation, budget and performance management.
  • Demonstrated transformational leadership skills, strategic thinking, organisational and planning skills including the capacity to initiate and lead cultural and organisational change.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to negotiate with a range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated successful experience in service planning and development of complex patient flow pathways at a similar level in an acute setting.
  • Demonstrated high level commitment to best practice, quality improvement and innovation.
  • Current NSW drivers licence and willingness to travel across NSW.
