Pimlico State High School are accepting applications for a self-motived and enthusiastic School Support Officer to join the team on a permanent, part-time basis (0.53FTE and 40 hours per fortnight). The successful candidate will work within the school community to enhance the learning and wellbeing of students, in partnership with the wellbeing team.

Pimlico State High School is a large, co-educational independent public school located in the eastern suburbs of Townsville, North Queensland. The school is proud to offer an extensive range of both academic and vocational subjects to students in Years 7 to 12. In the senior school, we offer an extensive range of general and applied subjects that provide a variety of pathways to university, further training and employment.
Your role:
Responsibilities include:
- Be available before school and during school break times to monitor students in the wearing of uniform and with regard to truancy. After school availability (as required).
- Develop a rapport with students through exceptional interpersonal skills and communication.
- Patrol school grounds and escort students to class if required (including nearby park and streets if directed by Principal).
- Refer students to School Support services staff and other personnel as required.
- Recording student contacts and behaviour referrals as needed to ensure records of all contacts with students.
- In consultation with the Head of Department and/or Guidance Officer be involved in student programs under the direction of assigned staff.
- Assist students with breakfast and lunch emergencies as required.
- Assisting new students with induction to the school.
- Participate in regular monitoring, through observations and evaluation, the effectiveness of programs in improving student outcomes.
- Maintain quality in the performance of all duties, ensuring adherence to methods, guidelines and procedures.
- Participate in professional development sessions in areas relevant to work programs and expectations.
- Other suitable duties (as required) consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the supervisor.
