We are seeking applicants for a Permanent Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities at Arundel State School. As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities, you will play a key role in providing a safe and engaging environment for the students, staff and school community. You will provide high level Grounds and Facilities maintenance and support to the Principal, Business Manager and/or nominated delegate.

Role:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintaining and enhancing school ovals, lawns and gardens
- Liaising with trades and contractors working on school facilities
- Providing basic maintenance and repairs to school facilities, equipment, furniture, locks and windows
- Ensuring compliance with WH&S requirements relating to: safe work practices; chemicals, fertilisers and fuel; hazards; maintenance of equipment and records; maintenance of tools and equipment
- Clearing of drains and gutters, coordinating rubbish removal, blowing of paths and areas, undertaking immediate cleaning action during school time
- Assist with setups for school activities and events
- Support a variety of school security activities including: banking of funds: collection of mail and parcels; locking and unlocking gates, sheds, storage areas and buildings; assisting with monitoring and maintaining school security and alarm/cctv systems
- Liaise with Business Manager or nominated delegate in relation to periodic maintenance of facilities
- Order and collect grounds care, cleaning supplies and materials as authorised by the Principal or Business Manager
- Prepare, mark and maintain outdoor and indoor sporting facilities, play areas and car parks
- Furniture moving/arranging and storage, set up classrooms and other areas for school activities
- Maintaining various registers
- Stocktaking, recording and engraving marking school assets, furniture and equipment
- Distributing school supplies and stocks
- Delivering a range of day to day activities as required by the Principal
The ideal candidate will be a self starter with a 'can do' attitude who is able to undertake a wide range of Grounds and facilities functions, independently and as part of a team, in a fast paced environment. Work is to comply with Education Queensland policies and procedures and with adherence to workplace health and safety legislation.
The successful applicant must hold a current drivers licence, a current positive Blue Card and return a satisfactory Criminal History Check (undertaken by Education Queensland).
This is a OO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the OO3 level once specific criteria have been met. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of OO2 to OO3 classification range.
