Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Accountant with a focus on grants. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial health of an organisation that is committed to empowering and assisting disadvantaged and at-risk children across Western Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the accounting function of the grants business, driving end-of-month processes, providing support to the finance team, and partnering with cost centre managers. This role requires a commitment to child safety, as well as a dedication to maintaining accurate financial records.What you'll do:
- Drive the end-of-month process and financial reporting of Grants
- Partner with cost centre managers, providing them with relevant information for decision making related to Grants
- Provide general support to the finance team, including leave coverage for the Finance Manager
- Ensure grant income is recognised in accordance with agreement terms and relevant accounting standards
- Liaise quarterly with Centre Managers to confirm grant expenditure accuracy
- Review grant budgets and ensure all expenditure has been accounted for
- Prepare grant acquittals, supporting documentation, and ensure grants are acquitted in accordance with the Grant Agreement
- Reconcile grant income and deferred liabilities at the end of each month
- Complete Grants month-end accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and Statutory requirements
- Proven experience in senior accounting roles, particularly in managing grants
- Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and statutory requirements
- Ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders including Centre Managers
- Experience in preparing grant acquittals and supporting documentation
- Proficiency in completing month-end accounting tasks
