Salary Range: $143,269 - $161,250 per annum

Townsville Catholic Education Office (TCEO) is seeking a dedicated Senior Accountant - Schools to commence as soon as practicable. This role is a full-time, permanent position based in the Townsville Catholic Education Office.
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, The Senior Accountant - Schools provides leadership to the Schools Finance Support Team to ensure the provision of quality financial and management accounting services to support Townsville Catholic Education schools.
The incumbent directly supervises the team members of the Schools Finance Support Team at TCEO. The department’s members support Principals and finance officers in schools in the preparation of budgets and reports, provide training and assistance with accounting processes and use of financial management systems.
About you

• Demonstrated experience in financial management of departmental operations in a large organisation
• Extensive experience with financial reporting for management and audit purposes for numerous operating centres forming part of a large organisation
• Demonstrated experience in a variety of software packages and products used for management and reporting purposes
• Proven ability to negotiate, consult, build and maintain productive relationships with a broad stakeholder group including Principals and Senior Leaders
• Demonstrated experience in supervising a team of employees to successfully deliver the services of the Finance Department.
• Demonstrated experience in identifying training requirements for employees operating in a Finance environment.
• Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, requirements for audited reports and the capabilities of financial reporting systems in a Finance environment
• Comprehensive knowledge of ATO requirements and other business-related legislation
• Well-developed knowledge of good business management practices.

Mandatory Criteria/Professional Registration/Other

• Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Business
• CPA or CAANZ certification
• Current Driver’s Licence
• Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
