• As a Senior Administrative Officer at VCAT is to support VCAT Operations by providing high quality administrative support through the processing of applications.
• The role is a point of escalation for complex tasks and inquiries by our users, stakeholders, Service Delivery and Administrative Officers relating to matters within the Civil Division and require well-developed knowledge of the jurisdiction, its processes, procedures and systems.
• The Senior Administrative Officer is responsible for undertaking jurisdictional assessment and using legislative and procedural based decision making to determine the next steps of an application, such as whether an application is accepted, rejected or struck out.
• The Senior Administrative Officer is also responsible for making evidence-based decisions when determining applications for fee relief and refunds.

About the Role
- Exercise quasi-judicial and statutory delegated functions subject to the direction of the Principal Registrar.
- Provide guidance, information and advice on processes, procedures and systems to staff and users.
- Provide a point of escalation for inquiries, tasks and issues of a complex, priority or urgent nature.
- Work closely with Civil Division Members, in particular the Head of Division and leadership group.
- Maintain effective and regular communication with key stakeholders including members, staff, users and the public.
- Undertake a range of administrative tasks including but not limited to: checking and updating VCAT applications, preparing and responding to correspondence, preparing orders and notices, booking hearing assistance for parties, scheduling cases and preparing files for hearing, data entry, and maintaining case management systems.
- Where required, Senior Admin Officers will work closely with the Service Transformation Project and provide guidance, information and advice on processes and procedures.
