A full-time permanent position has become available in the Complex Settlements team within Trading & Treasury Risk at AGL. As the Senior Analyst, you will be responsible for the calculation, reconciliation and settlement of all key wholesale contracts underpinning AGL’s wholesale portfolios. This includes electricity, gas, oil, coal contracts and cover both physical purchases and sales as well as financial instruments.
This position also has an important role in understanding the key commercial terms and conditions of complex wholesale contracts, with the skills to build financial models for the purpose of calculation and reconciliation. The position informs key front office and finance stakeholders of the performance of these contracts, through business partnering with Contracts Originations and Trading teams.
What you’ll be doing:
Reporting to the Manager, Complex Settlements, you will:
Calculate, reconcile, and create invoices for Integrated Energy contracts with large size and significant value
Interpret complex wholesale contract terms and conditions and develop the financial modelling for the purpose of calculating settlement amount
Settle, dispute and report all contracts in key financial systems
Perform cash flow forecasting for Integrated Energy and work closely with Treasury to manage short-term cash flow
Optimise AGL’s cash position via management of AEMO prudential requirements
Manage relationships and resolve disputes with external counterparties to ensure accuracy and timeliness of contract obligations
Work collaboratively with Wholesale Market to develop commercial understanding of the wholesale market
Critically challenge the settlements activities, initiatives and lead the continuous process improvement
About You
What you’ll bring to the table
Relevant experience in the settlements or similar functions in complex operations
Experience in using SQL and VBA to extract and manipulate data from databases
Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to synthesise information from a variety of sources and present it in a form appropriate to the audience (internal and external)
Reliable; excellent attention to detail; high level of personal pride in work
Demonstrated interest and a proven track record in continuous process improvement and consistency of work output
Effective time management and prioritisation skills and comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment
Excellent interpersonal skills; can build and maintain relationships (internal and external)
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and comfort using an array of software systems
Proven track record of dealing with external regulators, external and internal auditors and large corporate customers
