The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Analyst Data Lead to lead the design and management of Emergency Management Tech and Data's data environment to ensure data quality and robust data architecture.
About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer, and stronger Victoria.
DJCS Emergency Management includes the department's emergency management accountabilities delivered through Emergency Management Victoria, Emergency Recovery Victoria, Sector Performance and Reform and emergency management statutory entities and offices. The work of the group supports the emergency management sector to work together and to strengthen the capacity of individuals, communities, government, agencies, and business to achieve our shared vision of safer and more resilient communities and to rebuild and recover after an emergency.
About the role
Your work will contribute to the EM Tech and Data strategy, with particular focus on the development and ongoing capability improvements of the EM Data Platform. Your skills in delivering modern data capabilities and insights will enable the organisation to support the emergency management group.
You will be a systemic thinker with experience across the data value chain (ingestion, transformation, analytics) working within a dynamic environment to increase data capabilities.
Duties will include:
* The Senior Analyst, Data Lead will lead the design and management of EM Tech and Data's data environment to ensure data quality and robust data architecture.
* The role delivers the analytics and reporting priorities of the organisation to support EM operations and performance, drives strategic and operational improvement, facilitates reporting, and provides accountability to government and wider stakeholders.
* The Senior Analyst will also support compliance with EM Tech and Data's privacy and data governance obligations by working closely with the Department of Justice and Community Safety's (DJCS) Information Privacy and Assurance Units in undertaking compliance activities across the organisation.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
* Experience leading the development of analytical products such as reports, dashboards, visualisations, and algorithms for a wide range of stakeholders.
* Specific and demonstrated accreditation and/or experience in the development and delivery of data capabilities using tools (including but not limited to):
- PowerBI, Tableau, ThoughtSpot;
- AWS, Snowflake.
- Fivetran, DBT, Mulesoft;
- Python, SQL;
* Experience with designing and managing data environments, systems, and management processes to ensure data quality and robust data architecture.
* Understand the requirements of the Information Privacy Principles (outlined in the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic)), the Victorian Protective Data Security Standards and DJCS's data governance standards and guidelines.
Qualifications
* A tertiary qualification in statistics, data analysis, data science, mathematics, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
